Kennedy French students among top in national exam

Kennedy High School students received top marks on Le Grand Concours, a national French exam given each year.

Jessica Greymont, Darcy Pliego, Nina Hawkins and Carolina Herrera Ramirez were awarded gold honors for scoring in the top five percent nationally. Greymont and Pliego ranked in the first percentile of Minnesota students who took the exam, and in the third and sixth percentiles nationally, respectively. Hawkins ranked in the second percentile statewide and fifth percentile nationally, and Herrera Ramirez ranked in the third percentile statewide and third percentile nationally.

Brandon Medina Alvarado, Jaden Grace, Natalie Manro and Eva Martin were awarded bronze honors for scoring in the top ten percent nationally. Katarina Campbell, Alex Fischer, Tixzy Garzon- Herrera, Jeremy Olea-Herrera, John Lane and Emma Moore earned honorable mention recognition.

More than 70,000 students from all 50 states took the 60-minute test, which evaluates writing, reading and listening-comprehension skills. Now in its 84th year, Le Grand Concours is administered and sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French and approved by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
